Referencia Cruzada es el título de un proyecto que integra el trabajo de Enrique Hernández y Arturo Soto, donde convergen diferentes interpretaciones en torno al paradigma de la producción de las imágenes.
La serie fotográfica de Arturo Soto contempla la complejidad que impera en la saturación de significados dentro del repertorio en el que se encuentra inserta la imagen digital. De esta forma, Soto problematiza la condición de la fotografía en tanto productora de la realidad; tomando a la ciudad desde distintos ángulos, a partir de la cual se hace manifiesto su deseo por representar, al mismo tiempo que alude al potencial sensible del espectador y del artista.
Por su parte, Enrique Hernández traza la idea de ‘aura’ planteada por Walter Benjamin, usando fotografías manipuladas así como fragmentos de videos, que transfiere a impresión de tinta y finalmente son trabajadas en óleo. Lo anterior hace evidente el deterioro de la imagen original a partir del proceso de producción técnica; permitiendo, a través del acto pictórico, revalorizar la imagen, reteniendo a su vez las resonancias metafóricas y poéticas del original.
Las imágenes que conforman Referencia Cruzada coinciden en el uso del paisaje urbano como elemento que manifiesta el papel político de la imagen. La fotografía y la pintura como medios de producción que representan objetos y espacios construidos por la sociedad, cuyas imágenes generan una propuesta o nueva posibilidad de concebir al sujeto y a los modos de producción de subjetividad en la actualidad.

Arturo Soto’s photographic series contemplates the complexity that reigns in the saturation of meanings inside the digital imagery repertoire. This way, Soto problematizes the condition of photography as a producer of reality; shooting the city from different angles, through which, his desire for representation is shown, and, at the same time, alludes to the sensitive potential of the spectator and the artist.
For his part, Enrique Hernandez traces the idea of “aura” raised by Walter Benjamin, using manipulated photographs and fragments of videos, that he transfers to ink jet prints and then he paints. This makes evident the degradation of the original image throughout the technical production process; giving new meaning to image through the act of painting, holding into the original metaphoric and poetic resonances.
The images that conform Crossed Reference coincide with the use of the urban landscape as an element that manifests the political role of the image. Photography and painting, as production means, that represent objects and places constructed by society, whose images generate a proposal or a new opportunity of conceiving the subject and the methods of subjectivity in the actual times.
